PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC)
The Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC) is aimed at developing your in-water control, observation and judgement. We also explain how to interpret PADI standards and provide the foundations on which you build your teaching style.
My IDC is an intense yet fun-packed course that ensures you become the best PADI Pro you can be. The Instructor Examination (IE) is a necessary part of the process to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) but is not the focus of an IDC with me. My IDC is designed to truly prepare you for your first course.
I provide an innovative IDC that is designed to deliver maximum value through comprehensive workshops, extra assessments, and thorough critique on your performance from highly experienced professionals.
The IDC runs over the 11 days leading up to the Instructor Examination. However, if you need a schedule that better suits your availability, feel free to contact us—we’re happy to explore flexible options with you.
Instructor examination (IE)
After the IDC, PADI instructor candidates must attend and successfully complete a PADI Instructor Examination (IE). The IE is a two day exam in which candidates are evaluated on their diving knowledge and skills and ability to deliver teaching presentations in the classroom, confined water and open water settings.

Alternative Routes to an IE
Want to break it up a little or select a date? You don’t have to commit to a full IDC…
In fact, the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) can be divided into two sections.
You could choose to split up the IDC and become an Assistant Instructor (AI) first. If you’re an Assistant Instructor, or an Instructor with another agency, then the Open Water Scuba Instructor program (OWSI) is your path to the IE.

Spread your time and split your budget with the PADI Assistant Instructor.

Complete the OWSI program, take the IE and earn your full PADI Instructor rating.
